Gateshead Leisure Centre Is A Vital Community Asset

 Help the community save the heart of Gateshead and reopen the Leisure Centre (Gateshead Active) on the 1st November 2023. The former Gateshead Leisure Centre is a vital community asset, a group of residents mission is to save it, and make it the heart of the Gateshead community once again. 

Gateshead Leisure Centre closed on 21st July 2023, the charitable group are driven to reopen it on the 1st November, with the Gateshead Communities support. 

The Gateshead Active charitable foundation formed in November 2022 at a public meeting held about the consultation to close Gateshead Leisure Centre. They are undertaking the biggest Community Asset Transfer in history. Not only the largest community asset transfer, but within an extremely short timeframe, as their sole purpose is to keep the leisure centre open and accessible to the Gateshead community. 

This campaign needs your support to raise additional funds to help with additional legal costs, future building improvements and implement a full marketing plan. All crowdfunding money will be utilised to ensure the new Gateshead Active becomes a thriving hub for the Gateshead community, promoting both mental and physical well being. Gateshead Actives purpose is to strengthen the community and improve the people of Gatesheads health and wellness. 

Gateshead Active have secured funding for their basic costs to reopen , this additional funding is for marketing and to open up new revenue streams for the charity.
