Wheelchair Rugby: A Fun History for Kids
Did you know that wheelchair rugby started in Canada back in the 1970s? A group of brave athletes, who used wheelchairs, wanted to play a fast and exciting game even after they had injuries. They mixed ideas from sports like rugby and basketball to create a new game that was both challenging and fun!
Because the game was very rough and intense, some people began calling it “murderball.” Even though that name sounds a bit scary, it was just a funny nickname for a game where players showed lots of energy and determination.
Today, wheelchair rugby is played all around the world, and it even becomes a part of the Paralympic Games. It teaches us about teamwork, courage, and how people can overcome challenges to do amazing things.
